Soběslavská Blata (Soběslavská Marsland)

This group of fairy-tale villages in the Rural Baroque style is regarded as the centre of the whole area of South Bohemian marshland. They were called wheat or rich marshland. In the village of Záluží, you can see a typical marshland room and visit a workshop where puppets are made. The names of villages such as Klečaty, Komárov or Zálší refer to peat extraction and in this area there is an educational trail called “Borkovická blata” that will acquaint you with local peat extraction. In Smrčkův house in Soběslav, you can visit the ethnographic exhibition including an authentic marshland living space and a collection of unique marshland folk costumes.
