Dačice State Castle

The original Renaissance castle was built at the end of the 16th century for the family of Krajířů of Krajk and it gained its current appearance over the course of its reconstruction in the 1930s. A guided tour around the castle off ers 21 rooms focusing on the last generations of the Dalberg Family who inhabited the castle until 1940. In 2012, a demanding renovation of private and social rooms with social halls, a library, and private rooms on the first floor was completed, and they now look as they did at the beginning of the 20th century. The single-storey Art Nouveau library with 17 thousand volumes is one of the most favorite castle library halls in Bohemia. The castle building is surrounded by rugged terrain and a pond enabling day-long relaxing even for families with children.

Karl Anton Maximilian Dalberg (1792–1859) was a moving force behind the economic progress of the town of Dačice. He contributed, among other things, to the foundation of a sugar refinery where the first sugar cube in the world originated in 1843.
